Picnic Table Details

Common Picnic Table Questions:

  • Do You Deliver? – Yes. We will deliver anywhere inside Calgary for $75 (please let us know if there is a crazy dog, large fence or active mine field to negotiate. More info here.)
  • Will You Make It From Treated Lumber? – Nope. The old pressure treated wood is toxic and the debate is still out on the new stuff.
  • Will You Paint Or Stain The Wood? – Why would you ever want to stain a picnic table when you have the option of using cedar? Learn more about our cedar picnic tables.
  • Can You Do Bulk Orders? – Yes. Give me a number of tables and I’ll give you a time estimate and we can talk to work out the details and prices
  • Do You Take Credit Card? – Yes. We take visa, mastercard, and cash for table pickups. When you give us a call we will take your order and your credit card number and you’ll see your new picnic table in your yard shortly after.
  • What Else Do You Make? – We make Kitty Condos, scratching posts, doggy stairs, lawn benches, adirondack chairs, garbage enclosures and a ton more.
  • What Are The Table Dimensions?

Here is the standard 6′ table dimensions. I can also make them smaller or even with only one bench so they snug up to a railing if you needed. All the prices quoted would be the same. Basically, let me know the space it needs to fit into and I can make them around it for you if the stock size ones don’t fit :-)

    Dimensions 6 FT Table:
    Length: 6′ (or 72 inches)
Width (seat edge to seat edge): 5′ 4″ (or 64 inches)
    Height: 2′ 8′ (or 32 inches)

All our picnic tables are handmade and are extremely tough for all levels of use including Calgary parks and community centers with high traffic flow. Being tough enough for this kind of use means you can get years and years of backyard “family” use out of our picnic tables as well.

Being based in Calgary means that we run into our customers every day. With that in mind, we put our best into our tables so that you GET the best picnic tables.

With that in mind, we:

  • Hand make them ourselves
  • Make them wheel chair and elderly friendly (extended ends that do not require step over to get seated)
  • Build from chemical free spruce
  • Build them tough with extra hardware
  • We do not sand.
  • Use cedar when weather protection or beauty is a concern
  • Listen to ANY requests you have and would be happy to customize your table for you.
  • About Our Wood

Why do I use untreated spruce generally (cedar for the high end stuff)? Well, I really love wood. The look, the feel and the smell. I think you must love wood too or you would go buy a plastic kit from a well known superstore chain.

I go to the lumber yard and hand pick the wood that goes into each picnic table I build. I TOUCH IT. Truth be known, most of these picnic tables are going to be used during Calgarys summers and that means shorts and short sleeves. More skin exposed means more chemicals absorbed.

Chemically treated wood doesn’t look, smell OR feel the same and I don’t want my customers or my own frame exposed to any more artificial chemicals than we already do. I also don’t want to contribute to adding more chemicals to the environment that I already do just my living in a modern world.

P.S. Did I mention that with an untreated table, you can burn it whenever you want to get a new one. Chemically treated wood produces toxic fumes when burnt.
